Who doesn’t love a cheesy Christian catch phrase? Are any of these your favourites?
- It’s hard to stumble when you’re on your knees
- Don’t give up. Moses was once a basket case
- PUSH! Pray Until Something Happens
- Don’t tell God how big your problem is. Tell your problem how big God is!
- FROG, Fully Rely On God
And my personal favourite that I only discovered this week:
Wrinkled with burdens? Come to Jesus for a faith lift…
In 2004 when my daughter was six years old, we both became Christians. It was a wonderful time. That summer she bought and proudly wore a wrist band; the initials on which she happily told me stood for ‘what would Judith do?’
A few years back though, the saying Let Go and Let God became a bit of a mantra for me. My Christian life had been pretty much plain sailing. I knew who I was, where I was going and that I was loved by my father in heaven. Everything felt safe. Then that all changed; I found myself in a dark place, away from Church and in total chaos. It’s not a story to tell in a blog and it kind of doesn’t matter now, but what does matter is that in the darkest, most tumultuous times He had my back. He was for me, not against me and he went before me and made a way for me. In that time away from church (and I wouldn’t recommend it!) I learnt to read my bible in a way I’d never done before, worship from a place that I didn’t know was there, and learnt to live for Him in a very real way.
Five years on and my life is a blast, far from the one I thought I’d have, but 1000 times richer. So whatever life’s throwing at you right now please be encouraged. Know that He is with you and soon, very soon, you’ll be sitting in the sun again.
I’ve learnt that sometimes things get stripped back to basics for a while. That’s ok, in fact it’s beautiful.
…and…if you’re really stuck remember you can always ask ‘What Would Judith Do?’
