In two weeks time I retire from a job that I have been doing for the past 30 or more years. I have loved teaching and most mornings I really look forward to what the day will bring. I felt God telling me it was time to move on and do new and different things but I really didn’t like the word retire!

Retire that computer, the software is out of date! Retire that rugby player, he is too old! People shouldn’t be retired – the thesaurus equates the word with: retreat, surrender, depart – that is not any place I want to be in! Whatever stage of life we are in, we can all live lives filled with possibilities.

The Bible says this:

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” – Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)

So, if you are facing changes or even thinking about making some – if you involve God in those decisions, He will be with you in them. I know God wanted me to make changes and though I am apprehensive about it – I know He has gone ahead and prepared endless possibilities for me. God just loves to be centre of our lives and make each day count in the way we live it for Him.

So – for my new stage of life I have found a different word for retirement. In Spain they call it ‘jublicaión’ and that feels so optimistic and joyful! Even if you are not facing ‘jublicaión’ but feel that God might be asking you to make a change, do let Him in and be involved in those decisions.

Me gusta jublicaión!
